The first championship meeting between the two playoff finalists last spring was very entertaining. The game was intense, first class and exciting. The Cadets Schaffhausen were ahead ten minutes before the end with 26:23, but lost the lead and almost lost their victory.
In the finish, Schaffhausen’s most reliable players decided the game: Austrian goalkeeper Kristian Pilipovic prevented Kriens-Luzern from taking the lead again 30 seconds before the end with his 18th save (!). Iceland winger Odinn Rickardsson secured the Cadets’ victory in 30:29 with his seventh goal, a converted penalty from seven meters, just before the final siren.
Kriens-Luzern lost a home game in the Krauer Hall in the championship qualification for the first time since October 13, 2021. Almost two years ago, Wacker Thun from Central Switzerland lost 31:36. Andy Schmid was still missing in Kriens-Luzern. The Lucerne superstar has been struggling with a torn Achilles tendon since June. (SDA)
