What an afternoon at the F1 circuit in Spielberg, Austria! At the third-to-last DTM race of the season, Kelvin van der Linde celebrated his first victory in the Abt Audi since October 2021.

Yet the stories after the race belong to the Swiss Ricardo Feller. The man from Aargau races onto the podium from 26th on the grid after a failed qualification – and finishes sensationally third in the rain in Spielberg! This means that Feller is suddenly involved in winning the championship again.

To get Abt on the podium with two drivers, you need a bit of luck, Feller says after the race: “It’s our boss’s birthday today, so he somehow brought the luck with him.”

In the overall standings, Feller is in third place, 16 points behind Manthey driver Thomas Preining and 22 points behind Mirko Bortolotti. The Italian in the SSR Lamborghini only finished 9th in Spielberg and made the championship exciting again.

Duel for 3rd place

Feller (Abt-Audi) has an exciting duel with René Rast (Schubert-BMW) for the podium place. The two DTM drivers keep touching each other. “The BMW is just brutally fast on the straight. You know he’s getting closer and attacking you because he’s just faster. “We were able to benefit enormously from the track conditions today,” says Feller about the head-to-head duel for third place.

Ultimately, the man from Aargau takes the lead, is 27 hundredths faster than Rast in the most exciting DTM race of the season and is on the podium.

It continues at the Red Bull Ring on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 PM – will Feller provide another spectacle?
