In May 2023, Roger Federer attended the Formula 1 GP in Miami with his wife Mirka and their children Charlene, Myla, Leo and Lenny.

This comes as no surprise: Roger Federer’s children enjoy playing tennis themselves. “All four of them love it,” the 42-year-old from Basel reveals to the “Wall Street Journal” (“WSJ”). “The girls didn’t like it at first, but the better they got, the more fun they had,” said the tennis legend, who officially retired at the Laver Cup in London at the end of September 2022.

The twins Charlene and Myla (14) were last at the tennis academy of ex-star John McEnroe (64) in East Hampton (New York state), reports Federer. And nine-year-olds Leo and Lenny? “The boys were in the Nadal camp in Mallorca for a few days.”

Federer had announced it

The “Rafa Nadal Sports Center” on the Balearic Island of Mallorca opened in 2016. Federer was guest of honor at the festivities seven years ago. “I now know where I will send my children if they want to learn to play tennis,” he told his former rival at the time. Nadal (37) has not played a match since the Australian Open in January 2023 due to an injury.

Federer himself doesn’t play much tennis anymore. To stay fit he goes to the gym. But of course he no longer burns the same amount of calories as during his active time. “If you don’t exercise as much anymore, you have to be careful not to eat as much. That’s why I skip breakfast.”

The twenty-time Grand Slam champion continues to pursue sporting goals: “I wanted to try out certain challenges, for example doing 300 push-ups every day for a month.” He did not reveal to the WSJ whether he achieved this. (Yes)
