Poland has said goodbye to national coach Fernando Santos after just nine months. The criticism of Santos continued on Sunday after the 2-0 defeat in the European Championship qualifier in Albania. It was the third defeat on matchday five for Robert Lewandowski’s national team. The hope of a European Championship ticket is now only small.
Santos only took over in January from Czeslaw Michniewicz, from whom the Polish association separated in December. In 2016, the 68-year-old Portuguese led the Portuguese national team to the European Championship title. It is not yet clear who will succeed Santos. (cat/SDA)
