Jonas Raess set a Swiss record in the 3000 m in 7:35.12 minutes at the Memorial Borisa Hanzekovica, an international meeting in Zagreb. The 29-year-old from Zurich finished third in the victory over world runner Dominic Lobalu from South Sudan, who lives in eastern Switzerland. He improved Markus Ryffel’s Swiss record from 1979 (7:41.05) by almost six (!) seconds. Raess is now in third place in the European seasonal best list.
In the 1500 m, 800 m specialist Lore Hoffmann rode to 8th place in 4:05.78 minutes. Only four Swiss women have ever run this distance faster, underscoring the value of their achievement. In the 800m race, Rachel Pellaud excelled with the second best time of her career in 2:00.15 minutes to finish third. (SDA)
