Two years ago FC Schaffhausen failed in the jump-off at Lucerne, last season they romped around in the midfield of the Challenge League and this year they are bottom of the table in the second highest Swiss league with one point after six games. Sportingly things are going downhill with FCS, but there are also negative headlines off the field.
As the “Schaffhauser Nachrichten” reports, the association is in legal trouble. Ex-goalkeeper Joaquin Ardaiz (24) is said to have played two cup games and 19 league games without a work permit in the 2021/22 season. The same offense against Ardaiz’ Uruguayan compatriot Agustin Gonzalez (26), who still plays for FCS today.
Two punishment orders have now been issued: both against club president Roland Klein and against former sports director Bernt Haas (today’s ranking). The two officials are sentenced to fines of CHF 1,500 and CHF 2,000 respectively.
