Coco Gauff has reached the final of the US Open.

Fan favorite Coco Gauff has reached the final of the US Open in New York for the first time. The 19-year-old American defeated the Czech Karolina Muchova on Thursday evening (local time) after a nerve-racking performance at Arthur Ashe Stadium 6: 4, 7: 5 and will reach her first Grand Slam title on Saturday.

For sixth place in the world rankings, it is the second participation in a major final after the French Open 2022. Six years after Sloane Stephens’ triumph, Gauff cherishes hopes of an American home victory in Flushing Meadows. “Growing up, I watched this tournament so often. That means a lot to me,” said Gauff, who thanked the audience: “The job is not done yet.”

Against French Open finalist Muchova, Gauff used her sixth match point after 2:03 hours of play and was not disturbed by a 50-minute stoppage at the start of the second set due to a climate protest.
