Former federal chief prosecutor Olivier Thormann (53) did not give false testimony before the Federal Criminal Court in the FIFA affair. The suspicions could not be substantiated. Former UEFA president Platini had filed a complaint.

The special federal prosecutor appointed for this purpose has stopped the proceedings, he announced on Thursday. Michel Platini (68) accused Thormann in his indictment, among other things, that he had lied as a witness in the Fifa trial before the Federal Criminal Court in Bellinzona in June 2022.

The suspicion is not confirmed

During the “extensive investigation, the suspicions could not be substantiated at all,” wrote the special prosecutor Thomas Weltert, who was deployed to clarify the case. “A criminally relevant misconduct could not be established.”
