Most Formula 1 fans are not happy that Max Verstappen (25) is breaking down a lot of walls with Red Bull-Honda. And now the hungry bosses have another crazy plan for 2023: win all 22 races.

It would be a record of a century. Because since the start of the World Cup in 1950, no team has managed to remain undefeated in a season!

It happened on Sept 11

Well, in 1988 Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost achieved this record in the superior McLaren-Honda – until September 11, 1988 in Monza. The Grand Prix entered the penultimate round. Senna led from the start, teammate Prost retired with an engine failure.

Senna, otherwise a cool head, suddenly felt threatened by the two Ferraris of Berger and Alboreto – and lost his courage. When the Brazilian tried to slow down the already lapped Williams reserve driver Jean-Louis Schlesser (on September 12, 1975) in the first chicane, Senna collided with the Frenchman. He had replaced the ailing Nigel Mansell.

Only 15 wins in 16 races…

Senna was ashamed of this mistake for a long time – and at the end of the season McLaren boss Ron Dennis was also furious: 16 races – 15 wins. Greetings from the gravel bed of Monza.

Now the Bulls want to feel the madness in the second half of the World Cup. The chances are not as great as in 1988, when the strongest driver duo to date was on the road. Now Sergio Pérez can’t light a candle to his boss Verstappen – 2: 9 wins!

Pérez lost 17 seconds!

The apparently insatiable Dutchman will play his first home game in Spa this week (“I was born in Belgium!”). A year ago he beat his teammate Pérez by 17 seconds in the Ardennes forests.

Does the upcoming three-time world champion know no boundaries? “Yes, but ambition keeps pushing me forward. Funny that I suddenly caught myself laughing in the cockpit in Budapest. The box ran so perfectly.”
