After the Men’s U18 World Cup, which took place in Pruntrut and Basel this year, the Women’s U18 World Cup will also be held in Switzerland next year. The international ice hockey federation IIHF announced this on Wednesday.
From 6 to 14 January 2024, the eight countries Canada, Finland, the Czech Republic, Germany, Sweden, the USA, Slovakia and Switzerland will play for the world title in Zug. “In Zug we have found the ideal partner for this World Cup,” says Patrick Bloch, CEO of Swiss Ice Hockey, about the contract for Switzerland.
Bloch explains the choice for Zug as follows: “The EV Zug team has a lot of experience in organizing major events, the infrastructure is modern and of a high level. In addition, Zug is located in the heart of Switzerland and is easy to reach from Zurich Airport.” Zug already hosted the U18 World Cup for men in 2015. (SDA/dti)
