At the end of last week, the news came out of nowhere: FC Basel wants to capture Lucerne jewel Ardon Jashari (20). The “Luzerner Zeitung” (“LZ”) reported on it for the first time on Friday. Actually nothing special that FC Basel is interested in a promising talent. But what is surprising: when the “LZ” reports about Basler’s interest, it is already clear that the FCB agrees with the player. That raises questions.
Unusual action by FCB
FIFA rules require you to get permission from another club before talking to a player. That’s usually when the rumor mill starts spinning. In this case, that moment was missed. FCB boss David Degen (40) finally confirmed on Sunday what had been clear for a few days. “We agree with the player. We’ll see what the next few days, the next two weeks bring.”
Closed doors for FCB
Many FCL fans are now wondering how it is possible that a rumor only arises when the club and the player have already reached an agreement. As Blick has learned, this is also a mystery within the club. In practice, not all clubs adhere to the Fifa rule – probably because there are hardly any official consequences. In this case, however, the procedure is not without consequences. After all, FC Luzern does not feel like negotiating with FCB.
Those responsible in Basel tried to talk to the FCL about Jashari last Thursday. But they had to stay out of the commons and couldn’t even make an offer. Sports director Remo Meyer (42) explains this to Blick by saying that he does not want to sell his captain within Switzerland.
Answers will come Thursday
The fact that the FCL does not want to strengthen the national competition must also be due to coach Mario Frick (48). The Liechtensteiner has long been trying to blow a new self-image in the Lucerne area. It remains to be seen whether the strategy will be successful in the Jashari case. The FCL is not under pressure at all at the moment. FCB, on the other hand, urgently needs a new midfielder. For Lucerne, on the other hand, there is a risk of sitting on a dissatisfied player at the end of the summer if there is no concrete interest from abroad.
Meyer does not want to respond to a request from Blick until Thursday. Then he would have to give answers together with Frick at a media conference at the start of the season.
