Stefan Küng will once again set his sights on medals in the time trial at the World Championships in Glasgow

In the supreme discipline, the road race, Marc Hirschi and Marlen Reusser are the Swiss leaders. The 31-year-old from Bern is also one of the medal candidates in the time trial. The same goes for Stefan Küng, who missed gold by nearly three seconds in Wollongong, Australia last year, and Stefan Bissegger, who finished fifth.

Traditionally, Switzerland can also count on opportunities to win precious metals in the mountain bike category. In particular, 37-year-old Nino Schurter will look to defend his title from last year in cross-country and take his 11th individual gold at the World Cup.

In the Scottish city, almost all sports operated under the umbrella of the UCI World Cycling Federation will be held at a combined world championship for the first time. The program will feature decisions in Track, BMX Freestyle, BMX Racing, Gran Fondo, Indoor Cycling, Mountain Bike, Para-Cycling, Road and Trial disciplines. This makes it the largest event in cycling history. (SDA)
