It is not yet clear for which club star striker Denis Malgin (26) will go on a goal hunt next season. He has been a free agent since July 1 after Colorado failed to make him a contract offer.
Malgin is still announcing good news these days: the national player reveals on Instagram that he will soon become a father. His wife Emelie is expecting their first child together.
What many parents-to-be keep to themselves until birth, Malgin points out in his message, “Oh BOY, we can’t wait to meet you soon!” The couple apparently can’t wait to meet their son. Congratulations from hockey colleagues are numerous.
When Malgin played for the ZSC Lions last season, he lived with his wife in Herrliberg ZH on Lake Zurich. Emelie is the sister of Victor Öjdemark (25), who plays in the Swiss league with Olten. She met her husband when she was a teenager.
But where will the Malgins live with their baby in the future? Immediately after the World Cup in Riga (Let), where he missed the quarter-finals against Germany due to illness, he announced that an engagement in the NHL was a priority for him. As a free agent, he can now negotiate with NHL clubs of his choice.
Tied to the ZSC in Switzerland
Last December, downtown Toronto was sent to Colorado. In return, the Maple Leafs got Canadian winger Dryden Hunt (27). With two goals and two assists each, Malgin did not leave the desired offensive traces in Toronto. He then had 17 points (11 goals, 6 assists) in 42 games with Colorado. In the playoffs, the team failed in the first round.
In Switzerland, Malgin is contractually bound to the ZSC Lions until 2025. If he were to return, the spectacle would certainly play a more responsible role in Zurich than in North America. The center is in constant contact with the club, as he does his summer training in the building and on the ice of the ZSC Lions.
