Training camps are there to prepare for the season and integrate the new players into the team. They often walk away without much friction, small groups form and you get used to each other. But that can all be done very differently, as the example of Hertha Berlin shows.
The Bundesliga, relegated from the German capital, is currently in Zell am See (Austria) and is preparing the players for the season. According to “SportBild”, there was a fight in an inn on Sunday evening, substitute Marius Gersbeck (28) was then arrested by the police on Sunday morning and released during the day.
A spokeswoman for the club confirmed to “SportBild” that police were investigating. She did not name the subject of the investigation or the name of the player due to the ongoing investigation. According to police, the goalkeeper attacked and injured a local resident after a verbal altercation.
Ex-Ultra and friend of the club management
Gersbeck returned to Hertha this summer. He has been the goalkeeper of Karlsruher SC for the past four years. The keeper has been a supporter of the Berliners since childhood and still maintains good relations with the East Curve and the current Hertha chairman and ex-capo Kay Bernstein (42).
Gersbeck only played one Bundesliga game for Hertha in the 2013/14 season. From 2014 he was loaned to 3rd Division and 2nd Bundesliga teams before being sold to Karlsruhe for 2019. (nsa)
