Baxi base coach, Patri Cabrera, campus coach Pau Gasol

The month of July was one of the most intense for Baxi’s primary coach, Patri Cabrera. The canary that Ferrol has already adopted is part of it staff coach of one of the most prestigious basketball campuses in our country, the one organized by the Pau Gasol school and in which the Gasol Brothers Foundation cooperates. “It’s an opportunity because you share work with other coaches, experiences in the residence… It was great for me. I am very happy,” said the coach.

His work went hand in hand with the younger group. With 17-year-old boys, he learned the concepts of individual technique and tactics, as well as collective tactics. “We also had an NBA clinic and a trip to Nike Park in Barcelona,” adds Cabrera.

One of the most anticipated moments for the kids was the visit of Pau Gasol. “The boys had the opportunity to talk with him, take photos, and we were lucky that he came with the Barcelona player, Cory Higgins,” recalls the Canadian.

The Gasol Brothers Foundation, which fights obesity in children, also participates in this campus. “Among their activities, we also had a healthy habits competition that focused every day on topics such as mental health, sleep…”, he explains. He also has fond memories of the closing ceremony where they shared the court with a legend of Spanish basketball.

Ten days of hard work and learning, and for Patri Cabrera herself, who has no doubts that she will be able to pass on what she learned to her teams from the University. “In the end, you share many experiences with other coaches that are always enriching,” extols coach Baxi.
