Nyck de Vries will no longer be in the Alpha Tauri.

Alpha Tauri has immediately said goodbye to pilot Nyck de Vries (28). Blick already reported about it, now it’s confirmed. The Dutchman is replaced by veteran Daniel Ricciardo (34,232 GP starts, eight wins, most recently as reserve driver at Red Bull). Ricciardo is already driving for the Bulls’ B team in Hungary (GP on July 23). The Australian with the permanent smile is currently taking the Pirelli tire test at Silverstone.

In the past, Ricciardo was keen to emphasize that he wanted to return to a big team (“I want to go back to Red Bull”) – now he’s in the World Cup taillight car. Still, he now says: “I’m really happy to be back on the track with the Red Bull family!”

De Vries remained without points

Franz Tost, the team principal of Alpha Tauri, is also satisfied. “I am very happy to welcome Daniel back to the team. There is no doubt about his driving skills – and many of us already know him, so his integration will be easy and straightforward.”

And DeVries? He had a rough start in Formula 1. In 2022 he attracted attention in Monza after being called up to the Williams cockpit for Albon (appendectomy). He took 9th place and two championship points. Since then there have been none. De Vries started ten times for Alpha Tauri this season. His best result was a twelfth place in Monaco. (mom)
