After the morning training on the field of the Tyrolean amateur club SV Prutz, FCZ coach Bo Henriksen, like all players and staff members, cycled for a few minutes along the banks of the Inn to the Gartenhotel Linden in Ried. There the Danish bus freshens up for a while and then sits down at a table on the terrace of the Zurich camp district in Tyrol.

Blick: What is more important in training camp, working on tactics or team spirit?
Bob Henriksen:
On the field, the focus is on tactics. But off the field, it’s all about fostering team spirit through shared experiences. On Tuesday all newcomers have to sing something. That could be funny.

It’s not a full-length, the FCZ only signed two new players.
All new members of the delegation must sing, including the new press officer Michael Fritschi.

Clubs like Luzern or Basel are much more active on the market. Doesn’t Zurich need new players?
Fabio Daprelà is already there, Arad Bar will come along from the U21 European Championship on Tuesday. I see the few changes so far as positive because we can build on last season. We certainly want to reduce the selection with loan spells or transfers. All we’re looking for right now is a striker.

Admir Mehmedi would be a striker. Why didn’t it work?
I can only talk about players who are actually here. I don’t comment on rumours.

Rumor? The FCZ has even officially announced Mehmedi’s non-transfer. And you must have had something to do with the cancellation because you are also ad interim team leader.
But I don’t decide anything alone. Every decision is made together in the team and always in the best interest of the team. It doesn’t matter what the name is. In any case, I am very happy with the team we have.

How did the collaboration with player advisor Milos Malenovic, who is investigating the FCZ in the mandate, come about?
There are many conversations going on. It’s a process that will take some time. However, my daily work is not affected by it. The sports committee has always met regularly, now that Jure and Heinz (Marinko Jurendic and Heinz Moser move to Augsburg, d.Red.) just a new man from the outside.

Do you also want to become a top athlete?
I would rather be a coach ten times. But the club opted for this external analysis and it was obvious for me to help bridge this phase. Also because I know the business from Denmark. I have made many transfers, including to Ajax and Barnsley. But I’m really looking forward to being a full-time coach again.
