The fans of the women’s national team have long known that she can sing. But now Rachel Rinast (32) spontaneously gives a singing rehearsal live on SRF2 during prime time. The former international was commenting on the national team’s World Cup rehearsal in Winterthur on Wednesday, when the camera panned to a Morocco fan decked out in all sorts of stuffed lions.

That’s when Rinast kicks off live on the air – giving TV fans a few bars of the famous “The Lion King” movie number. A touch of Disney in the middle of the international match.

But Rinast singing into a microphone is anything but new. The former international has been singing at a professional level for years.

Rinast sang the official national anthem for the EM in 2017

For the EM 2017, the former fullback sang “United in Red”, the official national anthem for the tournament in the Netherlands. In Germany, she has already appeared in TV cast shows such as “The Voice” and “FameMaker”, which are about singing performance. She has also appeared in professional music videos.

Of course, there are always examples of Rinast’s voice on social media. And instead of a scholarship to study German, Rinast could have gotten one to study singing.

Music is Rinast’s great hobby. But now the dual national, who told her advisor in 2015 about her mother from St. Gallen and so unexpectedly found her way to the national team, still uses her voice professionally. As a TV expert at SRF. Rinast and commentator colleague Calvin Stettler are of course the SRF voices at the Swiss games at the World Cup in New Zealand. Will the TV expert give a singing performance again?
