Breathe a sigh of relief at the Friborg Olympic Games. The Swiss champion (here: Vomta Jordan) is still allowed to play in the Champions League.

Because Swiss Basketball sent documents to the wrong address, Friborg Olympic was ineligible to qualify for the Champions League. “It’s just embarrassing,” chairman Philippe De Gottrau told Blick afterwards. Now it has a happy ending.

As Swiss Basketball reported on Monday, the Swiss champion is still allowed to participate in the most important European competition. A solution has been found with those responsible for the Basketball Champions League (BCL).

According to the Swiss federation, the blame does not lie with you, but with those responsible at the BCL. “For unexplained reasons, which according to Swiss Basketball are not their responsibility, the BCL did not forward the form internally and ignored it despite proper receipt by the deadline.” (byl)
