Nick Kyrgios has to pass: Wimbledon comes too early for him after the wrist injury.

Last year’s finalist, Nick Kyrgios, canceled his participation in Wimbledon at short notice. The 28-year-old Australian is struggling with a wrist injury.

Kyrgios was only able to play his first tournament of the year in mid-June after a knee injury. On his return to the tour, he tore the ligaments in his wrist.

“I did my best to be ready after my surgery,” said Kyrgios. It was not enough for the first round match against Belgian David Goffin scheduled for Monday. The 28-year-old Australian reached the final of the world’s most prestigious grass tournament last year, losing to Serbian Novak Djokovic in four sets. (SDA/dti)
