At the World Cup in Val di Sole, Italy, Jolanda Neff shows a nice catch-up race and is classified as the best Swiss in 6th place.
The 30-year-old from eastern Switzerland dropped out of the top 30 in the first round due to a puncture and already looked beaten. However, with strong times, Neff made up place after place and just before the final lap overtook a group battling for 5th place behind the leading riders. In this Neff was only defeated by the Austrian Mona Mitterwallner.
Keller again not fit
Neff’s compatriot Alessandra Keller was also among the group of pursuers. But last season’s overall World Cup winner was clearly still weak after a cold and fell back to 11th on the last lap.
The race was won by Puck Pieterse from the Netherlands, who had already pulled away on the first lap. The 21-year-old European champion thus achieved her third victory in the fourth World Cup competition of the year. Italian Martina Berta and Australian Rebecca Henderson placed 2nd and 3rd. (SDA)
