The goalkeeper has been in Mackay’s shadow all season

Edu Sousa is coming home. The goalkeeper who defended the burgundy jersey for eight years will once again put himself under the bat in Pasarón. The club confirmed his return this Saturday after his name was bandied about last week.

The return implies the first movement towards the goal after the departure of three goalkeepers was confirmed: Pablo Cacharrón, Álvaro Cortés and Viktor Nikolov. The club included goalkeepers among the players who will not continue in the team next year. Apart from them, Sama Araújo, Miguel Román, Brais Abelenda, Gonzalo Bueno, Alberto Rubio, Martín Díaz, Derek Osede, Diego Seoane and Javi Robles will not continue.

Sousa said goodbye to Pontevedra CF in the covid season. After eight years at the club, he said goodbye in July 2020 and joined Talavera, where he was the starting goalkeeper for two seasons. The following year, he joined Deportivo as the third goalkeeper. He played only 299 minutes.

Manu Vizoso will be in goal alongside Ed Sousa. A youth player becomes part of the first team. The return of Edu Sousa is good news for Granat fans, who have always seen him as the man of the house.
