The Samurai Xtreme Race of As Pontes gathers a thousand athletes

More than a thousand athletes, most of whom are registered in the popular event, will take part in the new edition of the As Pontes Samurai Xtreme Race, an obstacle race that will take place this Sunday near the As Pontes lake. The competition in the elite category is a test of the highest level with a route of 10 kilometers with between 60 and 70 obstacles that the participants must overcome. The test is scored for the Spanish Championship in the modality and is also a qualifier for the World Show Jumping Championships to be held in Mammoth Lakes, California, United States of America, in the month of September.

Samurai Xtreme Race is an obstacle course that tests the endurance, strength and skill of competitors in a race that includes natural and man-made obstacles. In this edition, the course will have 67 obstacles between fences, puddles, wooden pyramids, walls, mud trenches, etc.

During the presentation of the activity, which took place at the headquarters of the Diputación de A Coruña, it was pointed out that the competition promotes the two values ​​of sport such as equality and teamwork, since the organizers emphasize that: « Homes and women of all ages compete together and work together to achieve goals. The organizers of the competition also planned junior categories, for boys and girls from 4 to 13 years old, which promote physical activity among children, and there is also a humanitarian run for the benefit of the Gen Foundation.

As for participation, 843 competitors will compete in the popular trial, 65 in the elite race, 58 in the age race, and fifty of them are registered in the junior race. Participants come from different parts of Spain, as well as from Portugal, the United Kingdom or Canada. The five elite race winners qualify for the World Steeplechase Championships.
