Trouble for Peter Sagan (33). The three-time cycling world champion (2015, 2016 and 2017) has been sentenced in his adopted home country of Monaco. According to French media reports, the Slovak was drunk on a scooter in the morning after a night of partying in mid-May.
The police noticed him because of his driving behavior and checked him. Although Sagan said he slept a few hours between leaving the party and riding the scooter, his breathalyzer test exceeded the legal limit.
The court sentenced him to three months in jail for the incident. He must also hand in his driver’s license before the same time. He won’t need it for the next few weeks anyway. Sagan will compete in the Tour de France (July 1-23) for the last time. (bir)
