Three Swiss women in round 2: Golubic continues to struggle – Waltert convinces

Successful day for Viktorija Golubic (WTA 138). The Zurich native beats the Swede Mirjam Bjorklund (WTA 135) in the qualification for Wimbledon with 4: 6, 6: 4, 6: 3. It was an exhausting match for the 30-year-old. Finally, after 2:15 hours, the redemption follows in the third part. Golubic will meet Brit Naiktha Bains (WTA 171) in the second qualifying round on Thursday.

Simona Waltert (WTA 115) is also one round further. The 22-year-old from Chur clearly beats the French Leolia Jeanjean (WTA 143) in two sets 6:2, 6:4. Waltert will play Argentina’s Julia Riera (WTA 150) for a spot in the third round on Wednesday.

With Céline Naef (WTA 165) a third Swiss woman makes it to the next round. The 18-year-old beats Belarusian Kristina Dmitruk (WTA 234) 7:6, 6:0 in just over an hour. In the next round, she will meet American Ashlyn Krueger (WTA 108) on Wednesday.

Ylena In-Albon (WTA 160) and Susan Bandecchi (WTA 368), on the other hand, fail in the first round. (mab)
