Sebastien Buemi is fifth in Portland.

Nick Cassidy (28) wins first Formula E race in Portland, Oregon. This brings the New Zealander closer to leader in the standings Jake Dennis (28), who is right behind him in second place. The best Swiss is Sebastien Buemi (34), who finished the race in fifth. The native of Vaud, who is eighth in the general classification after 12 of the 16 races, has only been better classified twice this season. Nico Müller (31) and Edoardo Mortara (36), the other two Swiss who started, did not see the black and white checkered flag. Müller from Thun retires after a crash on the ninth lap, for Mortara from Geneva the working day comes to an early end after 29 of the 32 laps.

The race, held for the first time in Portland, is one on a circuit with many tight corners, where the field largely stays together and no one was able to pull away decisively. Two safety car periods also brought the field closer together.

It continues on 15/16. July with two races in Rome before the season finale two weeks later with the two starts in London. (SDA/nsa)
