Almost a hundred participants from 45 different federations attended this event, which seeks to promote inclusive sports
About 90 people from 45 sports associations of Galicia participated in free inclusive sports trainings called Training of technical sports staff to include athletes with functional diversity.
All the participants of this conference considered it an enriching experience, since it allowed the establishment of synergy between the Galician sports federations present in order to continue the progress regarding inclusive sports, to expand the sports offer in Galicia, guaranteeing the inclusion of athletes with disabilities.
The experience was divided into four modules developed at the Galician School of Public Administration, the Provincial Sports Service of Vigo and the Provincial Sports Service of A Coruña. The first module dealt with functional diversity and sport as a means of integration; the second was devoted to the role of coaches in sports inclusion; the third dealt with the stages of development of boys and girls and how to use them to get involved in sports; and the fourth and last one, which was held on June 5, dealt with the values and counter-values of inclusive sports.
The conferences were articulated through the presentation of theoretical content, group dynamics and presentation of informative content. They shared during training experiences of inclusive sports projects launched in Galicia. The coordinator of the day was Marcos Vilasanchezhe graduated in psychology from the University of Santiago de Compostela and received a master’s degree in the psychology of physical activity and sports.
Participation in conferences is noted speakers like Juan Carlos Navarro Molinelli, coach and manager of the inclusive rugby project CRAT and manager of inclusive rugby for the Galician Federation. Testimonies of Galician and national Paralympic athletes were distributed in the same way.
The conferences are supported by the educational platform created in 2018 #JuntosInvulnerables with the aim of training boys and girls in the values of sport.
The objectives of the day were to consider the necessary tools to achieve inclusion in sport; to understand the role of the coaching staff as a key player in this process; as well as promoting the undertaking of inclusive sports projects in the basic categories of Galician sports federations and clubs.
In this year 2023, the Xunta de Galicia is announcing the first special order for subsidies for the purchase of sports equipment adapted to Galician sports clubs that have licenses for athletes with disabilities in the 2022-2023 season. or during the entire financial year 2023.
