The World Ski Federation has big plans. From 2028, he wants to hold the FIS Games every four years. This mega event should always be on the schedule in the years when there are no Olympics or world championships.
Where the premiere will take place is still open. Swiss-Ski is now announcing its interest in bringing the mega event to Switzerland. In close cooperation with the FIS, an application will be examined to “develop a corresponding concept with the destination of St. Moritz/Engadine as the main location and possible other competition locations”.
The aim is to develop a new, innovative event concept in which all three elements of sustainability – economic, ecological and social – are addressed.
All classic FIS sports
In 1928 the Olympic Games took place in St. Moritz. If you get the assignment, exactly 100 years later there will be a kind of mini-Olympic Games in the same place. Competitions are scheduled in the classic FIS sports of Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Nordic Combined, Ski Jumping, Snowboarding, Ski Cross, Free Skiing, Aerials and Moguls. Telemark, speed skiing, freeriding and parasports must also be integrated.
All interested organizers have until November 1 to submit a letter of intent to the FIS. The FIS Council will then make the final decision on the location in the spring of 2024. (bir)
