Great performance by Marlen Reusser (31) in the Tour de Suisse! The Swiss won the time trial from St. Gallen to Abtwil and just about took the leader’s jersey. The Berner wins with 8.79 seconds ahead of Demi Vollering (Ho) and Elisa Longo Borghini (It).
Reusser gets the victory thanks to a nice finish on the 25.7 km. In the second split she was still second, but managed to intercept Vollering, her colleague from the “SD Worx” team.
For Reusser it is already the third day victory this season. The second best Swiss is Elise Chabbey in 12th place. Reusser chases away the yellow jersey from teammate Blanka Vas. The Hungarian loses more than 4 minutes to the winner.
Reusser now leads the Tour after two of the four stages, nine seconds ahead of Vollering. On Monday, stage 3 leads from St. Gallen over 124 km to Ebnat-Kappel.
Spaniard crashes into target curve
The Spaniard Sara Martin Martin caused a moment of shock. She brakes into the target corner and crashes headfirst into the gang. After all, she can get right back up and carry her bike to the finish – in the end she loses more than four minutes. (SME)
