Leonidas Stergiou is trapped by RB Salzburg.

It’s no secret that FC St. Gallen has good connections with Salzburg. Last year’s loan player Daouda Guindo (20) greets. The talented left back played six months in Kybunpark, after which he was sent back to the red bull stable.

Now RB Salzburg could benefit from St. Gallen’s youth work for once. Leonidas Stergiou, the man from Wattwil, this only 21-year-old defender who has already played no less than 153 professional matches, should be in the sights of the tin club. There is a transfer fee in the low, single-digit million range.

Gladbach and AEK Athens would also be interested in Stergiou. It is almost certain that he will leave eastern Switzerland. The contract expires in June.

Fazliji for return

The three defensive players Matej Maglica, Basil Stillhart and Michael Kempter are already gone. The former returns to the Bundesliga with VfB Stuttgart, and the FCSG is expected to collect around 450,000 francs for the Croat. It is not yet known where Stillhart and Kempter are going. The latter is an issue at GC. Thanks to his versatility, Stillhart should be of interest to a number of Swiss Super and Challenge League clubs.

Betim Fazliji is also an asset in this respect. He can play defensively in midfield as well as central defender. And he faces a return to FCSG. (skr)
