With a 6: 4, 6: 3 in 83 minutes, Viktorija Golubic made it 2: 0 in a WTA level head-to-head against Jil Teichmann. After a balanced start, she made the decisive break in the first set in Nottingham to make it 6:4. The second round was then a clear case, although Teichmann managed another break with a score of 2:5.

While Teichmann suffered his seventh first-round defeat this year, Golubic made it to the second round alongside Miami for the second time. She too has had major problems in recent months. Five defeats at the start contributed to the former world number 35 being only 150th in the WTA rankings, 27 positions behind Teichmann, who also lost more than 100 places in the past eleven months.

Golubic’s next opponent on the lawn of the English Midlands is fourth-seeded Croatian Donna Vekic (WTA 20). (SDA/Mom)
