FC Sion has been relegated from the Super League – but that should not have bothered their star striker Mario Balotelli (32), who was absent in the final sprint. Three days after the Barrage debacle, he attends the Champions League final in Istanbul.
The Italian was invited by “BT Sports” to the TV studio at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium. Why Balotelli, one wonders? The striker scored in his career for both finalists – Manchester City and Inter Milan. In 2010 he even won the handle pot with Inter Milan.
Result tip from Balo? “No comment”
Together with ManUtd legend Rio Ferdinand (44) and Spanish World Champion Cesc Fabregas 2010 (36), he accompanies the English spectators through the football evening. But then Balotelli was dumbfounded when it came to the question of who would lift the coveted trophy at the end of the evening: “No comment.”
The answer causes hilarity among his colleagues, moderator Jake Humphrey, 44, jokes: “Wait a minute, we paid thousands of pounds for this man and his tip is ‘no comment’?”
Despite Balotelli’s refraining from a result tip, there was of course a battle for the title on the field. The lucky winner: Manchester City. For the first time in the club’s history. (tired)
