Another happy ending in Paris!

Tears flowed with the Japanese Miyu Kato (28), who was disqualified in the women’s doubles after an accidental hit by a ball girl. Days later, however, they should be tears of joy.

Because: Kato wins the title in the mixed doubles together with the German Tim Pütz (35). In the final, the two prevailed against Michael Venus/Bianca Andreescu (New Zealand/Canada) 4:6, 6:4 and 10:6 in a tiebreak. The duo only met shortly before the start of the tournament at Roland Garros.

Kato and Pütz collect 122,000 euros in prize money for the victory, so the scandal surrounding the ball girl can probably be forgotten. In professional tennis, mixed is only played at the four Grand Slam tournaments and at the Olympic Games. (AFP)
