According to the Integrity Commission, FIFA must from now on refrain from making statements that the 2022 World Cup in Qatar was climate or CO2 neutral. (archive image)

With its sometimes absolute statements, FIFA has created the “wrong and misleading impression” in commercial communications that the World Cup in Qatar was already climate or CO2 neutral before and during the tournament, SLK announced on Wednesday. The burden of proof lies with the advertising agency.

However, FIFA has not been able to provide evidence of the correctness of these statements in the proceedings. Your House of Representatives therefore approved all five complaints from Switzerland, France, Belgium, Great Britain and the Netherlands.

The SLK advises FIFA not to make any abusive statements in the future. The Integrity Commission is a self-regulatory body in the communications industry. It only makes recommendations.
