Swiss football league CEO Claudius Schäfer says the licensing decision regarding Yverdon-Sport will be made “early next week”.

After the bankruptcy of Barrage against Stade Lausanne-Ouchy (overall score 2: 6), Sion has to enter the Challenge League. Or not? After the defeat in the first leg at home at the Stade de Tourbillon, Sion president Christian Constantin announced that he wanted to go to civil court.

Background: Yverdon-Sport FC only mentioned the Stade de Tourbillon as an alternative stadium in the license fee – without permission from the canton or the police of Valais. The Swiss Football Association now wants Yverdon to play in the Biel Tissot Arena.

“Permit committee has questions”

“There is still an open question about FC Yverdon-Sport, for which the license commission still has certain questions. It will be decided early next week,” SFL CEO Claudius Schäfer reveals after the jump-off second leg on blue.

The twelve teams for the upcoming Super League season have not yet been finalized. When asked if it is possible to restart the licensing process, Schäfer replies: “It is possible to restart the licensing process. This, for example, with a change of owner, but also with a stadium change. This is something the licensing board is now looking at and investigating.”

Hopefully next week the fans will know which twelve teams will play in the Super League next season. Then there will finally be clarity about the licensing chaos in Yverdon. (jsl)
