SC Bern has announced in a press release that the position of sports director will be filled as of May 1, 2024. Club legend Martin Plüss (46) takes over the post. He must supplement the management with sports expertise and help the SCB get going again.
CEO Marc Lüthi (61) says about the appointment of Plüss: “We want to return to the top in the field and carry out ambitious projects with young people. To achieve the lofty goals, we need additional skills and resources in the sports sector. Martin Plüss embodies the SCB DNA and stands for absolute performance culture.”
Plüss will manage the entire sports field in Bern, sports director Andrew Ebbett and youth director Marc Weber will support him.
Successful career also after sports
The Swiss ice hockey legend can look back on a successful past in professional sports. He became Swiss champion four times (2010, 2013, 2016, 2017) with the Berner and twice (1995, 1996) with Kloten. In addition, there is a title in Sweden – with Frölunda, 2005 – and the silver medal with the national team at the 2013 World Cup. After 956 games in the National League, de Aargau gave his farewell to ice hockey in 2017 at the age of 40. His number 28 will no longer be awarded in Bern.
