The referendum campaign on the climate protection law is in full swing – on June 18, Swiss voters will vote on the bill. The new law aims to spend a total of 3.2 billion francs on subsidies for climate-friendly heating and renewable technologies. Only the SVP opposes what it calls the “electricity guzzler law”.
The young SVP now relied on naked facts to campaign for a no. On Thursday, the young party published a video in which they ridiculed the two former Federal Councilors Simonetta Sommaruga (63) and Doris Leuthard (60) while taking a cold shower.
Prank call to the SVP
In the Yes camp, the video is, unsurprisingly, not considered funny at all. The two co-chairs of the JSVP are ‘wimps’, says Central National Councilor Simon Stadler (35). “I think it’s ridiculous when you have to make fun of old federal councilors. This shows that they are missing the arguments. Tough men and women will vote yes to the climate protection law on June 18. »
The supporters of the climate protection law responded with their own video. They hired comedian Cedric Schild from the social media magazine “Izzy” to poke fun at SVP. In it, he pretends to be an elderly gentleman and asks if he can really only take a cold shower with his wife in the future. Visibly surprised and a little embarrassed, the wife of the SVP media office replies, “No, that was more provocative”.
“A nice proof of the fact-free campaign of the opponents,” says central politician Stadler. Instead of talking about facts, the opponents tried to upset people with provocations. (sq)
