The SP wants to advertise its CS-PUK places internally, says party leader Roger Nordmann (50). At least the only place she has to fill with a member of the National Council. In the Stöckli, the party does not have that many state councilors who are candidates again. So the crowds shouldn’t be big there.
The middle group led by Philipp Matthias Bregy (44) is also actively looking for interested parties. In the end, however, there probably won’t be many who really want to work on the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (PUK). This should explain why Credit Suisse had to be bailed out with help from the federal government.
Twice seven
The intention is that – as Blick reported earlier – the PUK will have 14 members. Half should come from the Council of States, the other half from the National Council.
The SVP should provide two representatives for the PUK portion of the National Council. And each one person from SP, FDP, Mitte, Grünen and GLP would complete it. The Council of States should have two people from the center party and two from the FDP. SP, SVP and Groenen would each add a member to the PUK half of the Council of States. The respective party strength must be displayed in the PUK.
5 million for the PUK
By the start of the third week of the summer session of parliament that has just started, the parliamentary groups should have decided on the names of their PUK members. Then it must also be determined who will chair the PUK.
Since the FDP with Karin Keller-Sutter (59) is the finance minister responsible for the takeover and her SVP predecessor Ueli Maurer (72) already had to deal with a possible bank rescue, her parties will hardly go for the PUK presidency to deliver.
According to the leadership of the National Council, a commitment credit of more than CHF 5 million is planned for the PUK. The PUK must also be able to recruit personnel. The PUK has not yet been determined. But if Parliament were to silence them, the population would hardly understand.
Fassler in focus
Names of possible members and the chairman are diligently passed on. We are mainly talking about lawyers, economists and people who have experience with official and parliamentary processes. Basic condition for everyone: they should not be associated with banks.
The center party should have the best prospects for the presidency. You could live with her left and right. The lawyer and former Innerrhoden Landammann and current councilor Daniel Fässler (62) is seen as a promising candidate. His special advantage: he has already been re-elected by the Landsgemeinde. So with Fässler there is no risk that he will be voted out in the fall.
