How did the long-standing bank Credit Suisse go under? And did everything go well? A parliamentary committee of inquiry (PUK) must investigate the events surrounding the bank quake, which is what almost all parties in federal Bern are demanding.
As the Office of the National Council announced on Tuesday, a PUK will investigate Federal Council management, federal administration and other federal responsibilities related to the emergency merger of Credit Suisse and UBS in recent years. The bureau also decided that the PUK should have 14 members, seven from each council. It has not yet been decided who will be the chairman.
The councils will decide on PUK next week
A commitment appropriation of CHF 5 million is planned for the fulfillment of the tasks of the PUK, the Bureau of the National Council writes in a statement.
The PUK has not yet been definitively decided. The National Council will decide on this next Wednesday. The Council of States then takes a decision, also in the second week of the summer session. The investigation can only start if both councils agree. (she)
