Michael E. Dreher was the founder of the Auto Party. He died at the age of 79.

Auto Party founder and former National Councilor of Zurich, Michael E. Dreher, died at the age of 79. The lawyer and entrepreneur from Schaffhausen liked to use the big guns in political disputes.

At the request of Keystone-SDA, an employee of Dreher’s company confirmed a report from “Weltwoche” about the death of the politician who had last lived in Küsnacht ZH.

In 1985 Dreher, together with like-minded people, founded the right-wing politicking Auto Party, which was renamed the Freedom Party in 1994. From 1987 to 1999, Dreher served on the National Council for the party.

At lower speed limits

The politician, who grew up in Schaffhausen, generally used a gruff tone in political disputes.

The car party fought what they considered rampant “eco-terror” and opposed lower speed limits and other traffic regulations, among other things. In the 1999 elections, the PVV lost its seats in the National Council. (SDA)
