The Swiss ambassador to Iran, Nadine Olivieri Lozano, has to go to the Iranian foreign ministry.

The Swiss embassy in Iran spoke plainly on Twitter. The execution of three demonstrators is strongly condemned, she announced last Friday. Iran was asked to stop executions and reduce the death penalty.

The men were accused of killing three security forces. It is believed that the confessions were obtained under torture.

Switzerland’s clear words have consequences. Iran’s foreign ministry has summoned Swiss ambassador Nadine Olivieri Lozano. In a statement, it criticizes the “interference” of the Swiss embassy and also accuses it of inappropriately and unprofessionally publishing a false flag of Iran.

Switzerland showed the old Iranian flag

The embassy had published a photo showing demonstrators with a photo of Kurd Jina Mahsa Amini († 22), who died in custody. Someone also waves a flag of Iran before the Islamic takeover in 1979.

Ambassador Nadine Olivieri Lozano was criticized a few months ago – not from Iran, but from Switzerland. She had worn a veil while visiting a holy city in the Iranian city of Qom. Oppositionists accused her of using it to legitimize the mullahs’ regime. (SDA/lha)
