“Arena” invites Nicolas Rimoldi – Berset skips

Nicolas Rimoldi on March 30 on his way to the Federal Chancellery.

His rise started with the corona pandemic. Nicolas Rimoldi (28) became one of the most prominent critics of measures and founded the Mass-voll movement.

Sometimes in the purple shirt of his organization, sometimes in a Trychler shirt and with a Jesus haircut, he rebels against the government’s Covid measures. What the self-proclaimed “freedom fighter” has been denied so far in his career is an appearance on the country’s number one political show, the “Arena” on paid broadcaster SRF.

Rimoldi calls for jail time before the Federal Council

That will change next week: Rimoldi may nag against the template in the publication of the referendum against the Covid 19 law. The round will be recorded on Wednesday, moderated by Mario Grossniklaus (46), and the question arises whether he will give his controversial guest the necessary countermeasures.

There are reasons for Rimoldi’s invitation – he co-chairs the referendum commission; he will also clash with an opponent on Blick TV. But Rimoldi is an enfant terrible who sees himself as part of a civil rights movement, feels like a “fascist dictatorship of the unvaccinated” and calls for imprisonment for the entire Federal Council.

Berset cancelled

One, however, is conspicuous by its absence: Health Minister Alain Berset (51) has given the “Arena” a basket. That was an “insult to democratic custom,” Rimoldi scolded, “he apparently realizes he has no arguments.”

The Mass-voll boss is flanked by Roland Bühlmann, chairman of the “Friends of the Constitution”, and SVP national councilor Lukas Reimann (40) in the back row.

«Relevant players» invited

“Arena,” editor-in-chief Franziska Egli, says when asked: “The ‘Arena’ creates a program for each voting template and invites the relevant players on both sides. In the case of referendum proposals, these are the ones who called for the referendum.”

Rimoldi and the Federal President also have things in common: in connection with the war in Ukraine, Rimoldi speaks of “warmongering” and Berset of “war madness”.
