The Spitex St. Gallen has problems with health insurer Helsana.

Another uproar at Spitex St. Gallen AG. Since the merger of four Spitex associations in 2021, there has been one negative headline after another. First, 22 nurses abruptly resigned, then the manager left, followed by a deficit of 1.7 million and a rescue injection. Now the Spitex St. Gallen has problems with the health insurance company Helsana.

Like the “St. Galler Tagblatt,” Spitex apparently billed services incorrectly. All that is known is that there were differences because wrong categories were used for accounting purposes. Helsana noticed this during an audit, or a systematic review. Now the health insurance makes declarations.

Ex-employee fought back

“We made mistakes,” says Daniel Mächler (66), CEO of Spitex St. Gallen. staff would have been inaccurate. The Spitex has now responded and hired a specialist to check the reports in the future. Spitex has made provisions for the past year.

In contrast, a former Spitex St. Gallen employee says she was encouraged by executives to fill out reports to bill the health insurers as much as possible. In addition, they had to take on work for which they were not qualified. As the former employee of the «St. Galler Tagblatt says she and other nurses resisted several times: “We didn’t want to cheat.” (lazy)
