Federal President Alain Berset (right) and Botswana’s President Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi visited the Landsgemeinde of Innerrhoden on Sunday.

Areas would be discussed where bilateral relations between the two countries should be deepened, according to a statement from Berset’s Department of the Interior (EDI). On Monday afternoon, Berset and Masisi appeared together before the media in Bern.

Monday was the last day of the three-day state visit of Masisi and his wife Neo Jane Masisi to Switzerland. On Sunday, the Botswana resident visited the Innerrhoden Landsgemeinde together with Federal President Alain Berset and witnessed, among other things, the re-election of State Councilor Daniel Fässler (centre).

In Botswana, according to EDI information, there are gatherings similar to rural communities. In February, Federal President Berset attended one of these Kgotlas in the southern African country.
