In a report published Monday, the NCPT recommends that the Secretary of State for Migration review and adjust the care system for unaccompanied minors (AMV). Despite the strong increase in the number of asylum seekers, professional and continuous care for all young people must be guaranteed.

In a statement accompanying the report, the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) writes that the reception of the approximately 1,700 unaccompanied young people who seek asylum according to the “UMA handbook” not only requires more staff and also a much larger infrastructure. More than 60 full-time positions in the care of minors are currently open in the asylum regions.
