Dessimoz was elected to the Grand Council in 2017 and has been leader of the Greens group since 2019. As a “top candidate” for the National Council, Christophe Clivaz, a professor at the Institute of Geography and Sustainability at the University of Lausanne, is available for a second term in the federal parliament, it said in a statement Thursday night.
Four years ago, Clivaz was the first Green from Valais to be elected to the National Council. He is a member of the Environment, Spatial Planning and Energy Committee and of the House of Representatives.
In addition to Clivaz, three other men and four women are on the main roster of French-speaking Wallis. Six candidates (four women and two men) for the National Council entered a list for Upper Valais. There are six candidates on the Young Greens list.
