The Federal Office of Public Health (BAG) justified the rejection with reference to ongoing legal proceedings, the Federation of Swiss Psychologists (FDP) announced on Friday.

The background is a dispute between psychotherapists and the health insurance fund association Santésuisse. The association refused to pay for the services of psychotherapists in training.

In January, the FSP, together with the other two Psy associations, submitted a supervisory complaint to the BAG. It must check whether the health insurers concerned are still fulfilling their legal mandate with this refusal.

For its part, Santésuisse has lodged a complaint against the provisional rates issued by the cantons. The Federal Administrative Court will decide on this.
