By a vote of 30 to 11, the Board followed the motion of the Federal Council and its Provisional Advisory Committee to recommend that the people reject the pension initiative. A counterproposal is not necessary. The matter now goes to the National Council.
The Council of States said that the Bundesrat was already working on a proposal to stabilize the AHV for the period from 2030 to 2040. This work was worth seeing. In addition, the majority of the Council of States thinks it is wrong to write an automatic retirement age in the constitution.
With their initiative, the Young Liberals advocate raising the retirement age to 66 for both sexes as a first step. According to this directive, the retirement age should be increased by 0.8 months for every month of additional life expectancy.
