Satisfaction with Federal President Alain Berset (50) was already dwindling. The fact that he accuses others of “war madness” in the “NZZ am Sonntag” really damages his reputation. Parliamentarians agree that one can be against the transfer of war material, but denigrating dissenters is unworthy of a Federal President.
The fact that Berset said “I sense a war frenzy in certain circles today” is considered a no-go. FDP chairman Thierry Burkart (47) is clear: “This statement by the Federal President shocks me. When Alain Berset speaks of “war madness” and does not mean Russia but Western states, he justifies Russia’s attack on a sovereign state.
