The National Council approved the amendments to the agricultural law on Thursday by 129 votes to 1, with 65 abstentions. The abstentions came from SP, Groenen and GLP. The large chamber was largely based on the resolutions of the Council of States, which considered the bill in December.
In the Council of States the Left Party and in the National Council with the Left Party would have liked to introduce more ecological concerns. However, some 20 minority motions were rejected in the Grand Chamber. The Agriculture Act therefore contains neither a reduction path for greenhouse gases nor an expansion path for more animal welfare.
